Water damage and mold from moisture in the air covered this home’s crawl space. These musty, dirty conditions were having a negative impact on the occupant’s lives. Like most homes, this crawl space was built with a thin plastic covering on the ground and insulation on the floor above. Over time this strategy fails and allows mold to grow and air quality to decrease. This hurt the health of the home and had impacts on personal health as well.
We were able to help! After debris removal, we installed a CleanSpace vapor barrier across the entire crawl space, SilverGlo insulation to the walls, two sump pumps, and a dehumidifier. All these products work together to create an airtight, controlled crawl space that works for the home. The vapor barrier and dehumidifier keep the air dry and moisture from being able to catalyst mold growth. The wall insulation is a way to keep the temperature under control and treats the crawl space as part of the house. It also won’t be affected by moisture if any gets on it the way traditional insulation would.
This crawl space went from a moldy, musty, and useless space to a clean, energy efficient, and protected part of the home. Fortunately, these homeowners were able to recognize their crawl space as critical part of the house and we were able to help them. We were able to help these homeowners in part because of our commitment to permanent solutions and the patented products that we install.
When our crew arrived at this home to install our interior waterproofing system and brace the back wall some questions arose. It was an unusual situation where the block wall was so badly bowing, and had blocks turning sideways, that attempting to brace the wall might bring it down. The unfortunate situation meant that the entire wall needed to be rebuilt before the job could take place.
After conversations with our inspector and production manager we found that, even though wall rebuilds are not within our list services, we had some experienced installers with the knowledge needed. So, we were able to rebuild the wall and continued our job per normal.
We braced the wall we built as originally needed to protect it from future bowing and waterproofed the perimeter with our WaterGuard system. After this job was completed the homeowner was ecstatic. She had remarked constantly about how impressed she was with our work. We were also very happy to work with a customer who really needed the help protecting their basement from wall collapse and water intrusion.
The basement walls of this home were cracked and bowing inward due to Years of being pressurized and depressurized from the ground outside of the walls. The recent rain was bad news for this ailment as the increase in ground water would put more pressure on the walls.
The homeowners had us inspect the issue to avoid full on wall collapse and decided to go with the most economic option. This solution, CarbonArmor strips, would add elasticity and support to the rigid block wall. We went to install it and stuck it strategically along two walls of the basement. Since the crack was horizontal and not stair stepping this solution worked much more effectively, as it only had to support pressure from one centralized spot along the wall.
After this installation, the homeowners were happy with our work. The CarbonArmor strips are relatively out of the way but provide a big and much needed support factor to these block walls.
The basement in this home had major leaks. Flooding was rendering it useless and leaving unhealthy marks. The homeowners knew this was a major issue for their home, so they contacted us to inspect the damage.
We found that, like most flooding basements, the best and efficient way to solve the problem was full perimeter waterproofing. We proposed our WaterGuard drainage system to send any unwanted water outside away from the home. We dug a trench and install the products and sent the discharge line through a French drain with ice guard.
The job went quickly and easily, and the homeowners were very happy. They now have dry usable space in their basement and the system can be maintained as well as operate 24/7.
The basement under this house was experiencing issues from water leakage. Consistently high humidity, pools of water, and chipping paint were all very recent developments. Fixing these problems and keeping the basement healthy required a few different solutions and products.
The first thing we did was dig a trench around the perimeter of the basement and installed our WaterGuard drainage. This system sits under the floor and collects water before it gets into the basement before sending it to a sump pump to be pumped outside. The second solution we provided was CleanSpace vapor barrier along the walls. When water begins to sit in the basement walls it can evaporate into the air and raise the humidity. Our CleanSapce system is designed to resist that and keep the humidity lowered.
Once the entire job was done, the home looked great and the homeowner was happy. The water intrusion into this basement is no longer a major issue and the health of the entire home is much better.
The pool deck in the back yard of this home started to crack and sink. Erosion around the base of the pool and soaked up water from general use were the main influencers in these problems.
To fix the cracks and stabilize the pool deck, we lifted the slab with PolyLevel and filled the void which was forming underneath the concrete. Then, we sealed the cracks with NexusPro. This held together the separating slabs and waterproofed the cracks to help resist future erosion.
The job was completed without a hitch and the pool deck was restored and protected from future ailments. The homeowner was happy with work and was happy to not have to worry about the degrading pool deck anymore.
The floor on this home was sagging and began to bow downward. The downspouts were also filtering water right under the foundation into the crawl space.
We secured the floor by installed our SmartJacks under the floor which can withstand thousands of pounds of pressure. We also dug and installed buried downspouts to keep water flowing away from the home and not continuing to cause issues within the crawl space.
When the job was complete, the homeowners were thrilled to have a floor that was stabilized and a better water drainage system.
Torn plastic and water seepage was making a mess of this crawl space and harming the health of the home. The homeowners that called us to inspect the crawl space were concerned with how nasty it was getting.
We thoroughly inspected and ran through all their options to make the home healthier and protect the crawl space. By encapsulating the entire crawl space, we protected it from all types of moisture which eliminates mold growth, rot, and musty air.
The finished crawl space was sealed tight and kept the air clean and dry which made the homeowners very happy.
The walls of this home’s basement were cracking and the floor above it was sagging. The homeowners were starting to feel uncertain about these cracks and had us come to inspect the issues.
We found that there was some serious sagging and that the cracks were concerning long term. So, we suggested and installed our SmartJacks and CarbonArmor strips to jack the floor up and hold the wall together.
The homeowners were very happy with the work and have peace of mind about the stability of their home.
Andrea from Thomasville, NC needed help with her crawl space. She found Carolina Basement Systems through an online search. Her home was built in 1953 and no work had been done on the crawl space since then. She had an existing sump pump that worked, but was concerned about energy loss through the floor and moisture coming up into the bedroom above the sump pump. Carolina Basement Systems came out to take a look and Andrea showed them the issues she was concerned about. They explained that they could install a CleanSpace Crawl Space Encapsulation system which would address all of her issues. This system includes a crawl space liner to seal off the earth and block moisture, a dehumidifier to remove any existing moisture and keep the space dry, and a new sump pump to remove any water that does get in.
Merrill from Denton, NC contacted Carolina Basement Systems after noticing how hot and cold her crawlspace would get during the summer and winter seasons. A crawlspace that isn't insulated or sealed can cause a house many issues! Damp soils seep through causing musty smells and high humidity, which creates a breeding ground for pests, allergens, mold, and more. On top of that, an exposed crawlspace can hike up your energy bill from the constant draft of outside air seeping through. Here at CBS, we don't want your health or your house to suffer, so our team went straight to work.
First, we insulated the area with our highly efficient SilveGlo graphite-impregnated insulation. This system is made up of inorganic and waterproof materials that act as a vapor barrier on the walls. Next, our team added a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier and condensation pump to keep humidity levels safe and to properly discharge of any water collected. Our top-of-the-line dehumidifier will prevent mold and reduce nasty odors. A CleanSpace crawlspace encapsulation system with drainage matting under the liner is added to permanently prevent moisture, outside air, and pests from intruding this crawlspace. After our experts sealed all vents and cleaned up work debris, the mission was complete!
Another happy customer and another home protected with Carolina Basement Systems!
David of Thomasville, NC contacted Carolina Basement Systems with some troubling concerns regarding his crawl space. The HVAC company made note of some moisture present during an inspection. After the homeowner noticed mold growth on some exterior walls, he knew there was definitely a moisture problem in this crawl space! Mold is a nightmare for any homeowner. It can cause wood rot - ruining a home's foundation. Mold can cause health problems, especially to those with allergies and asthma. It can even welcome dust mites and other humidity-loving creatures such as spiders, mice, rats, and MORE. Good thing this homeowner contacted the local professional to take care of these problems once and for all!
Our team of well-trained experts went right to work on cleaning up this crawl space by removing all the debris and fallen fiberglass insulation. The area was then treated for mold and ready for some waterproofing. SilverGlo wall insulation was installed to seal off the walls and help prevent mold, rot and musty odors. Vents were sealed. Piers and walls were wrapped with CleanSpace liner to control humidity. Drainage matting was placed underneath the CleanSpace to capture any collected water and direct it to the Ultra Sump pump. Our patented, top-of-the-line Ultra Sump pump system was installed with battery backup and IceGuard protection. This ensures that water will be pumped up and far away from this home's foundation - even if the power goes out or if the weather is below freezing. A SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was hooked up to reduce musty odors, stop mold growth, and eliminate muggy feelings caused by high humidity. After all was completed, the final step was to seal the crawl space off with an EverLast Door. This airtight and water proof door made from PVC plastic will never crack, shrink, or require maintenance.
Water and mold no longer stand a chance against this crawl space! Another happy home owner and another happy home thanks to Carolina Basement Systems.
A homeowner in Lexington, NC reached out to Carolina Basement Systems with concerns regarding her foundation walls. A large vertical cracks had appeared on a foundation wall, and she knew this was an issue that needed to be fixed. Good thing this homeowner contacted the local foundation experts!
One of our knowledgeable inspectors came out to assess the situation. He then works with the homeowner to educate her on what is happening to the wall, why this has occurred, and what the options are to fix it. After a solution was agreed upon, our crew went to work! They permanently stabilized these walls with the use of CarbonArmor straps. CarbonArmor is made with fiber-reinforced polymers that contour tightly to the basement walls. Those straps are then secured to floor joists with AmrorLock brackets for guaranteed permanent stability. With the walls stabilized, the crew then address the root issue of the cracked bowing walls - weak soils beneath the foundation. The crew installed buried downspouts to divert water away from the home's foundation.

Doug, one of our knowledgeable inspectors, went out to perform a thorough investigation of the area. Doug then sat down with the homeowner to educate her on what was happening in her crawl space, why it occurs, and what solutions are available at her desired budget. After a plan of action was agreed upon, JC and his crew got to work. They started this crawl space project by permanently stabilizing the home's sagging floors with the SmartJack system. These high-capacity steel piers are the only floor-stabilizing solution that addresses the root cause of the issue, weak soils below. This system instantly and permanently stops settlement and lifts the floors back to their original position. Next, to isolate the crawl space from the Earth for complete humidity and moisture control, they installed a CleanSpace encapsulation system. Complete with dimpled drainage matting, a SuperSump pump with a built-in alarm, and (of course) CleanSpace vapor barrier - the crawl space was now dry, protected, and sealed. Our high-efficiency SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier and air purification system was added to prevent mold and eliminate musty odors. Our indestructible, airtight, and watertight EverLast crawl space door was installed to seal and protect the newly clean and healthy crawl space from any critters, insects, water vapors, or winter drafts. This three-pump system automatically adjusts to meet the current pumping needs of the environment and can pump up to 12,000 gallons of water on one fully-charged battery. IceGuard protection was added to the sump pump discharge lines to prevent the crawl space from flooding during cold weather by allowing water to escape even when the discharge line is frozen. Lastly, the discharge lines were extended and buried to divert water away from the foundation. Our patented LawnScape outlets were installed to the ends to prevent the lines from clogging without disturbing the landscaping.
Another happy customer and another healthy crawl space thanks to Carolina Basement Systems!
A homeowner in Denton, NC reached out to Carolina Basement Systems with concerns regarding her foundation. Water had been seeping inside of her basement via the foundation walls and a side of her home was sinking. Wet soils are the most common reason for a foundation to shift and have issues. Foundation problems are serious and require quick attention, as they only get worse and more expensive over time. Good thing this homeowner contacted the local foundation experts!
One of our knowledgeable inspectors went out to perform a free, no obligation quote and inspection. After he completed a thorough investigation of the area, he then sat down with the homeowner to educate her on what was happening to her foundation, why this occurs, and what solutions are available. After a plan of action was agreed upon, one of our expert crews got to work. They permanently stabilized the sinking foundation by installing helical piers. These galvanized steel piers are screwed into the ground and transfer the weight of the home to load bearing soil. Not only do they provide immediate and permanent stabilization, but they also were able to lift the sunken area of the home back to its original position. Next, to protect the basement from water damage, the crew sealed the walls with our CleanSpace vapor barrier, installed WaterGuard, our interior subfloor drainage system, and added the TripleSafe sump pump system to ensure that flooding is never a worry. Water doesn't stand a chance against this basement now!

A homeowner in Lexington, NC reached out to Carolina Basement Systems with concerns regarding his home's concrete walkway. The concrete slab leading up to his house had sunken and completely detached from the brick stairs. Issues like this are not only visually unappealing, but they also create a dangerous tripping hazard. Good thing this homeowner contacted the local concrete repair experts!
One of our knowledgeable inspectors went out to perform a free, no obligation, quote, and inspection. After he a completed a thorough investigation of the area, he sat down with the homeowner to educate him on what exactly was happening to the concrete walkway, why this occurs, and what types of solutions are available. After a plan of action was agreed upon, one of our expert crews got to work. They were able to lift, level, and restore the concrete walkway with the modern technology of PolyLevel. This process involves drilling tiny pea-sized holes into the slab and injecting them with a special expansive polymer formula. The poly foam is strong enough to lift the concrete, but so lightweight that it adds no pressure to the soils below. Poly injections are minimally invasive and the surface was ready to use in minutes. Once it was done, the concrete walkway looked as good as a freshly poured slab.
