TJ, one of our knowledgeable inspectors, went out to perform a thorough investigation of the area. TJ then sat down with the homeowner to educate him on what was happening in his basement, why these issues occur, and what solutions are available within his desired budget. After a plan of action was agreed upon, Ivan and his crew got to work. They installed our WaterGuard interior subfloor drainage system around the perimeter of the basement - where the floor and wall meet. This top-quality system is specially designed to capture water at its very entry point, before it ever has the chance to reach the basement floors. The collected water would then be directed to our TripleSafe sump pump. This superior pump features a three-pump system that automatically adjusts to the current pumping requirements of the environment. This includes a battery-powered pump to protect against flooding during a power outage. IceGuard protection was added to the discharge lines to ensure effective removal of water during pipe-freezing weather. Lastly, to divert water away from the foundation, buried downspouts with patented LawnScape outlets were added to the sump and gutter discharge lines, keeping the foundational soils dry and strong.

Mary of Pilot Mountain, NC contacted Carolina Basement Systems in regards to the crawl space of her very old home. This crawl space had never had a vapor barrier of any kind, and she was noticing the consequences! An unprotected crawl space can cause cold winter drafts, mold, mildew, musty odors, sagging floors, and that's just to name a few things. This homeowner was smart to call the local waterproofing experts.

After our inspector worked with Mary to create the best plan of action to meet her budget and needs, Elias and his hardworking crew were on the job. They started by removing all debris and sealing all vents to enclose the space. Next, drainage matting was placed on the ground to drain water from underneath the CleanSpace liner. Next, the CleanSpace was installed on the walls, floors, and piers to control humidity and seal off the space from cold winter drafts. Lastly, a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier and filtration system was hooked up to prevent mold and reduce musty odors.

Poured concrete slabs around the base of the home, such as this one, often experience complications with sinking toward the home. The erosion and settlement around and under the concrete porch gave way for it to slope toward the home. This made every rain a problem for the home because the water on the porch would flow toward the base of the home and pool up on the porch.

When the homeowner’s decided to search for a solution, we did a full inspection of the problem and suggested injecting our PolyLevel foam under the slab to attempt to raise it and the stabilize it from sinking further.

The homeowner’s decided to trust us with this project and were not disappointed. We were able to achieve lift and move the porch back to its original pour line under the home’s outer wall. We also successfully filled the void underneath the slab to prevent further issues with sinking. Everyone on this project was happy to have worked on it, and the home’s concrete porch has never been more level ever since it was poured.
