Supporting Our Community Starts with Showing Up

Carolina Basement Systems Donates a Freezer to North Hills Elementary School

When it comes to building strong communities, support goes beyond homes and foundations it extends to families, schools, and neighbors. At Carolina Basement Systems, we believe in giving back where it matters most. That’s why we were honored to donate a freezer to North Hills Elementary School, helping support the launch of a new on-site food pantry for families in the school community.

This initiative represents a powerful collaboration rooted in compassion, partnership, and long-term impact.

What Is the North Hills Elementary Food Pantry Initiative?

The North Hills Elementary food pantry is a community-driven effort designed to provide accessible, reliable food support to families in need. Located in Room 135 at the school, the pantry will serve families weekly and help address food insecurity while fostering dignity, care, and inclusion.

After meeting with school leaders and community partners, it was clear that refrigeration and freezer storage would be essential and that’s where Carolina Basement Systems was proud to step in.

A Partnership Built on Community

This initiative would not be possible without the dedication and collaboration of several incredible partners:

  • Mount Tabor United Methodist Church
A longtime partner of North Hills Elementary, Mount Tabor continues to expand its impact by providing volunteers and operational support to help organize and run the pantry.

  • Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina
Second Harvest is working diligently to supply food for the pantry, ensuring families receive consistent access to nourishment that reflects the cultural needs of the school’s community, including its large Hispanic population.

  • District & School Leadership
Special thanks to Ms. Matthews, the district liaison who helped spearhead this partnership, as well as the dedicated administrators and staff at North Hills Elementary who are laying the groundwork for long-term success.

And finally, we are incredibly grateful to be welcomed as part of the North Hills family not just for a single donation, but for what we hope will be a lifelong partnership.

Why the Freezer Donation Matters

A freezer may seem like a simple piece of equipment, but its impact is significant:

1. Expands Food Storage Capacity

The freezer allows the pantry to store frozen and perishable food items safely, increasing the variety and quantity of food available to families.

2. Supports Consistent Weekly Distribution

With families indicating that Fridays at 3:30 PM work best for pickup, the freezer helps ensure food remains fresh and ready for reliable weekly service.

3. Enables Culturally Relevant Food Options

Frozen proteins and culturally appropriate foods can now be included, helping the pantry better serve the diverse needs of the North Hills community.

4. Strengthens Long-Term Sustainability

Proper storage is essential for a pantry’s success. This donation helps set a strong foundation for continued growth and impact.

More Than a Donation — A Commitment

At Carolina Basement Systems, we don’t just fix foundations we help strengthen the communities we serve. Being part of this initiative at North Hills Elementary School is an honor, and we’re excited to roll up our sleeves, get to work, and help make a meaningful difference for families.

Together, we’re building something that lasts. 💙
