The retaining wall supporting the customer's home and carport was cracked and shifting, posing a risk to the structure. To stabilize it, we used our GeoLock Channel Anchor System. This system involves installing heavy-duty steel anchors into stable soil away from the damaged wall. We then attached these anchors to steel channels that span the wall's surface. The installation process included precise excavation, drilling, and securing the anchors to ensure optimal tension. The result is a stabilized wall that resists further movement, protecting the home and carport from structural damage.

Anchor System

The anchors are installed by first drilling a small hole into the soil away from the damaged wall. A steel anchor rod is then driven through this hole into stable soil layers. Once the rod reaches the appropriate depth, a plate is attached to it, and the system is tensioned to provide support. This ensures the anchors are securely in place to stabilize the wall effectively.

Anchor Plates

The plates are attached to the damaged wall using heavy-duty bolts. First, a steel channel is positioned against the wall, and holes are drilled through the wall to align with the channel. The bolts are then inserted through these holes and tightened to secure the channel and plates firmly to the wall, ensuring a strong and stable connection.

Hydrostatic Pressure

The cracks likely formed due to excessive pressure on the retaining wall, which can result from soil expansion, poor drainage, or heavy loads. Over time, this pressure caused the wall to shift and bow, leading to visible cracks.
