Preparing the Basement for Waterproofing
The waterproofing process begins by removing a section of the basement floor along the perimeter walls. This creates space for the drainage system that will collect water entering around the foundation and direct it toward the sump pump.
Basement Drainage and Wall Protection Installed
With the perimeter prepared, the drainage system was installed and sealed beneath fresh concrete. A wall vapor barrier was also added to direct moisture from the foundation walls into the drainage system, helping keep the basement dry and protected.
Battery Backup Sump Pump Protection
Next, a sump pump system with battery backup was installed to remove collected water from the basement. The backup system provides an additional layer of protection by keeping the system operational during a power outage.
Dehumidifier Installed for Moisture Control
To complete the interior moisture protection, a dehumidifier was installed to help control humidity in the basement. This system helps maintain a drier, more comfortable environment and works alongside the waterproofing system to protect the space from excess moisture.
IceGuard Installed for Added Discharge Protection
An IceGuard was installed along the sump pump discharge line to provide an emergency exit for water if the exterior discharge line becomes frozen or blocked, helping the waterproofing system continue moving water away from the basement.
Exterior Discharge Line Completed
To finish the waterproofing system, the exterior discharge line was buried and the area was restored. The IceGuard remains accessible above ground, allowing water from the sump pump system to be safely directed away from the home.
