This troubled crawl space was moist and drafty, causing the wooden floor joists to weaken and settle. We permanently stabilized the sinking foundation with push piers and then insulated the crawl space with our top-quality SilverGlo insulation system. These waterproof and graphite-impregnated insulation boards act as a vapor barrier and provide an unbroken sheet of R-11 insulation along the crawl space walls.
We had to waterproof this basement to protect it completely and ran a discharge line away from the home. This drainage system keeps water intrusion pushed away from the foundation.
One consequence from having a lot of water seepage is the increased risk of bowing walls. These crawl space walls were experiencing just that. We installed out steel beam PowerBraces to stabilize and hold the wall in place.
Intruding water would slowly leak up from the ground and through the floor of this basement. The humidity was high and the risk of ruining the unfinished areas were also high. So, we waterproofed the perimeter and installed a dehumidifying air system to protect the home.
The dirty and wet crawl space under this home was causing ventilation and mold issues. We cleared it out and began to seal it with our CleanSpace vapor barrier and dry it out with our SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier.
