The NC crawl space code only requires that a layer of plastic be laid along the ground of the crawl space. However, these barriers quickly tear and move and leave the crawl space exposed to moisture. Knowing this, the owner of this home had us install our patented CleanSpace vapor barrier that is sealed around the entire crawl space and keeps moisture out long term.
The dirty and wet crawl space under this home was causing ventilation and mold issues. We cleared it out and began to seal it with our CleanSpace vapor barrier and dry it out with our SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier.
Efflorescence on the walls and block piers of the crawl space was an obvious indicator that moisture was seeping through. We wrapped the entire area in our CleanSpace vapor barrier to protect the crawl space from this moisture and allow it to become an extremely useful part of the home.
Mountainous regions in NC often have a harder time keeping crawl spaces dry. We sealed and encapsulated this crawl space to increase its efficiency and keep it dry.
Humidity, mold growth, and a ripping plastic covering was starting to create problems for this crawl space. It was only a matter of time before the thin plastic would fail and bring the home under code and cause problems such as mold growth from high humidity. We installed our CleanSapce vapor barrier which is designed to protect crawl spaces from moisture getting into the air, and it is extremely durable.
